New Beginnings: Behind the Shutter LLC's Indoor Photography Studio Launch

As some of you may be aware I opened Behind the Shutter LLC in March of 2018.  For several years I have been easy to spot setting up for sessions with my handy dandy bright red wagon.

In 2022, I proudly unveiled my private outdoor studio, the Rustic Shutter. This space features several permanent backdrops, including barn walls, a vintage truck, a pallet wall, and a stacked wood wall. It's been the perfect setting for senior and family sessions, as well as my themed fall and Christmas mini sessions.

Today, I am beyond excited to announce the grand opening of my brand new indoor photography studio! After a lot of hard work and help, my garage has been completely transformed. This new space allows for flexible, quiet, and private sessions, perfect for newborns, professional headshots on short notice, and any sessions that prefer to avoid Michigan’s unpredictable weather.

As we step inside, to the left, we have a private changing area. A little further in, there’s a comfortable seating area where you can relax before your session, or for parents to unwind while their little ones are being photographed.

To the right of the door, you'll find a vanity for last-minute hair and makeup touch-ups, ensuring you look your best before stepping in front of the camera. Next to the vanity is a clothing rack filled with items from my client closet. From cap & gown options to maternity dresses, you're welcome to borrow any outfit, saving you from purchasing something new. We have several seating options for single-person sessions or additional seating with our couches.

My prop closet and ceiling storage are stocked with decorative items to enhance any set you can imagine.

On one wall, I have a neutral white room backdrop, complemented by an American vintage wood and white sofa loveseat, and white hydrangeas for a touch of elegance.

Opposite that, we have a brick wall adorned with my vintage red Victorian couch, now with a fresh look. While this wall is permanent, the decor in front of it will change from time to time.

The entire wall between these sets is perfect for corporate headshots, senior portraits, family sessions, or children’s photography. The pristine white wall offers simplicity, and with our diverse backdrops, we can cater to your preferred theme. It’s also ideal for shots that will utilize digital backdrops.

To enhance your experience, I have an Amazon Alexa to play your choice of music, setting the perfect mood for your session. Plus, I’ve had a mini split system installed to keep the studio temperature controlled, ensuring your comfort no matter the weather outside.

A lot of thought and planning has gone into making sure this studio meets all your needs for any session. I hope you love it as much as I do and I can’t wait to welcome you all here soon!

I am also excited to offer the unique option to split full sessions between my indoor and outdoor studios. This gives you the flexibility to enjoy the beautiful, rustic backdrops of my outdoor space while also benefiting from the controlled environment of the indoor studio. Whether you want natural light and scenic settings or a comfortable, climate-controlled session, I've got you covered.

Thank you for checking my new studio out, and I hope to see you soon at Behind the Shutter LLC!
