Meet Mrs. Butterworth!

Hello there! I'm Jessica, the owner and photographer at Behind the Shutter LLC. Yes, my name really is Mrs. Butterworth! If we haven’t met yet, let me introduce myself.  I have a knack for getting genuine smiles and laughs out of my clients—whether that means cracking a joke, acting a little silly, or even making animal noises. If someone’s trying their hardest to stay stoic, don’t be surprised if I enlist the help of a parent or friend to get that perfect reaction. My sessions are laid-back, fun, and focused on capturing you—not stiff, awkward poses.

Why High School Seniors?

I enjoy working with all age groups, but somewhere along the way, I discovered my passion for high school senior photography. There’s just something special about capturing this milestone in a way that truly reflects who you are. I welcome my clients’ creative ideas, favorite locations, and personal touches—because your senior portraits should tell your story.

Senior year flies by, and I know how overwhelming it can be. As a parent of a recent high school graduate myself, I’ve been in your shoes! I understand the rollercoaster of emotions that come with this chapter of life, and I want to make at least one part of it easy. Let me take the guesswork out of your senior photos so you can focus on enjoying this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Why Photography?

Photos are more than just images—they are memories. My home is filled with pictures of my family, my son growing up, the places we’ve visited, and the experiences we’ve shared. These are my most cherished possessions, especially now that my son has left the nest.

I’ve been documenting life through photos since I was a little girl, and over the years, my passion only grew. I don’t just love photography—I live it. I see the world through a lens, both figuratively and literally. My goal is to create images that, even 10, 20, or 30 years from now, will still bring a smile to your face.
